Spring 2008 Update
Visiting Yamhill Valley Vineyards - We are open daily starting Memorial Day Weekend (May 24-26) through Thanksgiving Weekend (Nov 30), 11 AM to 5 PM. Our tasting room will always have our current releases for a modest $5 tasting fee. This Spring and Summer we are tasting 4 whites and 2 reds.
In addition, we have our newly released 2005 Pinot Noir Tall Poppy available for an additional $5 tasting fee.
The Tasting Room has a new addition this year, a selection of Library wines for purchase. These are a very limited selection of remarkable older vintages of Pinot Noir that we kept back for winemaker dinners and other special events. These wonderful red wines are only available for purchase by visiting our tasting room. Currently the Library selection includes:
Our Vineyards and Wines - A very successful growing year culminated in our largest harvest ever. We picked and processed over 315 tons. The harvest itself was long and trying as the weather was not the most co-operative. Pinot Gris came in first with stunning richness and the wine, now on the market, has already won gold medal in an East Coast competition. We picked 210 tons of Pinot Noir up from 153 tons in 2006. That translates into approximately 13,000 case of the red stuff. We are certainly pleased with the overall quality but the weather took its toll on a small percentage. As a result, we will have more fine wine than ever to sell in the upcoming two years.
YVV wines are finally getting the recognition that they truly deserve. Our 2006 Pinot Noir Estate was the signature wine for the Davis Cup Final held in Portland last fall and recently again got rave reviews from Matt Kramer in the Oregonian just a few weeks ago. Nice because it is unheard of for Matt to gush over the same winery two years in a row. The Wine Spectator in April gave us nice reviews for both our Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc. And our 2007 Riesling showed well (Silver medals) recently in competitions on both coasts.
Additionally, we have just openned our Tall Poppy Wine Club. Members of this club have access to Yamhill Valley wines that are not otherwise available.
