Harvesting the Rainbow blocks.

Windmill Hill 4

Block Name: Rainbow 777

Variety: Pinot Noir

Clone: "Dijon" 777

Year Planted: 2000

Trellis Type: Vertical Shoot Positioning (VSP)

Acres: 4

Soil: Volcanic / Marine Sedimentary

Fun Fact: This block is planted with the clone, 777, from Burgundy, France where these vines originated.  They were first brought to Oregon in 1988 via Oregon State University and were nicknamed "Dijon" due to the return address on the package from the University of Dijon. This is an early ripening clone which bodes well for Oregon's cool climate.
